Smoke DZA Releases ‘Praying For My Soul’ Video ft Flipp Dinero
Smoke DZA Praying For My Soul Video Flipp Dinero: Smoke DZA has released a video for his song, ‘Praying For My Soul’ featuring Flipp Dinero. The video models the 1995 Albert Hughes film, titled ‘Dead Presidents’. DZA spoke exclusively to Hypebeast concerning the project.
“I recorded a lot of this album in Los Angeles. And one of the weeks of me being out there Flipp happened to be out there also,” He said. “We took a trip to the cookies store, got a bunch of goodies and went back to my session to lock in. [“Praying For My Soul”] was the first beat I played for him — we vibed immediately. Shoutout to Sap, he produced that.”
“We had several ideas for this video but due to the pandemic we had to pull a few audibles,” Smoke DZA continued. “We shot the video in NYC the first day of the lockdown with tons of uncertainty that we would be able to deliver, but by the grace of God and our director Rook we made it work. We channeled the movie Dead Presidents as the basis for the video.”
The veteran rapper just released his last album, ‘A Closed Mouth Don’t Get Fed’, through RFC Music Group and Cinematic, back in February. It contained features from Westside Gunn, T-Pain, Dave East, Wale, and others.
Still from his exclusive interview with Hypebeast, DZA explained what his self-isolation was looking like.
“My current quarantine is homeschooling, grocery shopping, Zoom and IG live with a dash of NBA2K20. I’m always working. I never stopped. I have three more projects done in the stash and I’m working on some very special projects with some friends. I’m very excited about what I have in the chamber. In due time you guys will see and hear it.”
