Facebook Launches Gaming App
Facebook Gaming App: Facebook has announced its own gaming app in response to high demand due to the coronavirus lockdown. This facebook gaming service will allow its users to follow other gamers, watch live gaming events, comment, and broadcast games, all from their smartphones.
The aim of this app is to compete with other popular broadcast services like Twitch, Mixer, and YouTube. Apparently, Facebook is trying to find its footing in the gaming industry.
Prior to now, Facebook Gaming was a feature in the Facebook app or as a standalone website. This new app has been undergoing testing in Asia and Latin America for almost two years now. Currently, it has been released in North America and can be accessed on the Google Play Store.
During its 18-month test period, the app got five million downloads and about 700 million people are recorded to have interacted with their gaming products.
The new Facebook Gaming plans to offer a similar experience to other broadcasting sites, allowing users to watch streamers to play games or play games themselves. However, it also allows the app to play games from the company’s “instant games” library without installing the games individually. Mobile games can also be streamed directly from the screen without any extra equipment, a feature YouTube provides to channels with over 1,000 subscribers.
Download Facebook Gaming now on Google Play. An ios version is underway.
