Zendaya Lands First Emmy Nomination For Her Role In Euphoria
Zendaya Emmy Nomination Euphoria: Congratulations are in order for Euphoria actress, Zendaya as she lands her first Emmy nomination. The 23-year-old landed this nomination for best actress in a drama for her role in HBO’s Euphoria. She played Rue, a high school student battling drug addiction.
This is the actress’s first Emmy nomination. Other nominees in the same category going up against Zendaya are, Jennifer Aniston (The Morning Show), Laura Linney (Ozark), Olivia Colman (The Crown), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), and Jodie Comer (Killing Eve).
Comer won the coveted award in 2019 for her role as the psychopathic assassin in the British Drama.
Zendaya’s nomination was announced by Laverne Cox during the Emmy Nominations live cast. The presenters couldn’t help cheering the young star.
Zendaya rose to fame as a Disney star, known for shows like Shake It Up and K.C Undercover. However, Euphoria was a major career pivot for her. The HBO series was a no-holds-barred foray into the lives of average teenagers.
“I think Euphoria taught me a lot about myself. It made me more confident in my own abilities because I doubted myself a lot.”
“I was looking for something to prove I can do it,” she said. “Euphoria served as that, in the healthiest way. I never want to plateau as an actress—I always want to be able to explore and push myself. [Being an actress] brings me to places and makes me do things I’d probably never do because I’m such an introverted person.”
This year’s Emmys awards show will take place on September 20 on ABC, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
