Michael Jordan Surprises Two Hometown Medical Clinics With $10 million
Michael Jordan has recently donated $10 million to open two new medical clinics in his North Carolina hometown. According to CBS News, the clinics are set to open in early 2022 in New Hanover County and will offer affordable healthcare to those in Wilmington, NC.
“I am very proud to once again partner with Novant Health to expand the Family Clinic model to bring better access to critical medical services in my hometown” the NBA legend said in a statement.
“Everyone should have access to quality health care, no matter where they live, or whether or not they have insurance. Wilmington holds a special place in my heart and it’s truly gratifying to be able to give back to the community that supported me throughout my life.”
The new medical centers will offer services to those who are underinsured and uninsured, following the work of Jordan’s other two clinics in Charlotte, NC. The previous Michael Jordan Family Clinics have helped over 4,500 patients and has provided help during the pandemic.
He continued… “We look forward to standing these clinics up as quickly as possible to ensure all members of the community have access to necessary medical care. We are so appreciative of Michael’s unwavering commitment to help us bring affordable care to our communities that need it most.”
In total, Jordan has donated $17 million to Novant Health. Back in 2017, he donated $7 million towards the building of the first two clinics. The first Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic opened in 2019 and the second opened last October.
