Mac was born Malcolm James McCormick, but he was known professionally as Mac Miller.
Over the spam of his life, he was an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer.
He started his music career in 2007 at the age of fifteen. He was signed in 2010 to Rostrum Records in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is where he released his mixtapes, K.I.D.S and Best Day Ever.
His debut studio album, Blue Slide Park was released in 2011 and made it to the top US Billboard 200. REMember Music, his record label was established in 2013 and after the release of his second studio album, Watching Movies With The Sound Off, he left Rostrum for Warner Bros. Records in 2014.
Here, he released three other albums, GO:OD AM, The Divine Feminine and Swimming. This last album is what earned him his Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.
He was also a record producer during his lifetime, but not under the name Mac Miller. This was how he produced several tracks for various artists.
One of his biggest struggles, however, was with substance abuse and it was the major reason his relationship with Ariana Grande didn’t work out. She couldn’t fix him, as being with sufferers can be daunting, coupled with her career that just started peaking at the time.
