Kanye West Dressed In Silver For Second Opera Performance : Mary
He has now premiered another production in Miami, titled Mary. He was bedecked in all silver for the performance which featured music by the Sunday Service choir and was directed by Vanessa Beecroft, who also helmed Nebuchadnezzar.
The Mary opera was a collaboration between “the Sunday Service collective,” described in the press release as “a ministry formed in January of 2019,” and Access Opera.
According to tweets from the event, there were twelve scenes involved in the production, which took place on a barge. It also featured scenes of Kanye reading verses from the bible.
With tickets to the showing going for $200, a press release described Mary as “an original opera, based on the biblical story of the miraculous events surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ.”
The Marine Stadium, which is used as a boat-racing arena, features area seating looking out over an expanse of water.
All of Mary was staged on floating barges which the actors accessed via speed boats and water craft.
However, while West did not appear in his first opera, Nebuchadnezzar, late last month, he took on a leading role for Mary.
The opera featured some of Kanye’s older songs, mixed up with some christmas classics.
Some of the songs include ‘Power’, ‘Love Lockdown’ and ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’.
Also, the production lasted an hour. This marks his second collaboration this year with Vanessa Beecroft. They had earlier staged West’s Nebuchadnezzar at the Hollywood Bowl on Nov. 24.
Kanye is really pushing for his money. Also, you may love or hate him, but he sure knows how to market his brand and move with trends. Remember that his appearance on Joel Osteen.
