Kanye West Announces Christian Themed Opera: Nebuchadnezzar
Kanye West Opera Nebuchadnezzar: Kanye apparently isn’t jumping off the Jesus train anytime soon. Despite criticisms that he’s using the Christian thing as a marketing strategy, Ye is going forward with a planned opera concert, titled -wait for it- Nebuchadnezzar.
Love or hate Kanye, we have to give it to him. He knows how to get people talking and keep them at it. Let’s not forget that for years now, Kanye has been at the top of trends. Once you think he’s fading, he finds a cause to champion his career back to life.
We’re not certain how to feel about that, but being a ‘Church Person’ wasn’t cool until Kanye got in the picture.
So, A for Effort?
It’s been nearly a month since Kanye West put out Jesus Is King which received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. The album still did very well, hitting #1 on the charts with its lead single ‘Follow God‘ as a fan favourite. You can stream the album here.
Earlier this evening, never one to follow the status quo, Ye has announced that he will be holding his first opera on November 24th at the Hollywood Bowl in LA. It is called Nebuchadnezzar, after Nebuchadnezzar II of the Neo-Babylonian Empire.
You might recall that Ye mentioned him during his recent interview with Zane Lowe. It seems this might have been in the works for a while.
It will be directed by Vanessa Beecroft.
The invitation was designed by Nick Knight.
