Adele Accused Of Cultural Appropriation Over Notting Hill Carnival Post
Cultural Appropriation Adele Notting Hill Carnival: The opps have found Adele today after she posted an image on Instagram to pay tribute to London’s yearly Notting Hill Carnival.
Adele shared another photo on Instagram Sunday night that in a split second started trending online. The image shows the artist in a Jamaican flag bikini top, yoga pants, and bantu knot hairstyle.
“Happy what would be Notting Hill Carnival my beloved London,” Adele composed on Instagram, Sunday night, in tribute to the yearly occasion. The street festival is held each August in Notting Hill, London. However, this year, it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The image was apparently taken during last year’s Notting Hill Carnival.
Also, it’s hard not to notice Adele’s momentous weight reduction throughout the past year, evidenced by the picture.
The image’s comment section is loaded up with banter between fans and opps, arguing that Adele is committing cultural appropriation with her hairstyle and bikini top and others defending her.
“She is from London and 🇯🇲 is part of the culture here so just stop and acknowledge she’s paying homage,” one fan commented.
“Ok for everyone who doesn’t understand. That reason ppl are angry is because black women have been judged for their hair for years, but when 1 white women does it she is praised for it,” another fan clarified. “It’s annoying and unfortunate. So yes it’s offensive.”
