Maeta Taps Buddy & Kaytranada For ‘Teen Scene’
Maeta Buddy Kaytranada Teen Scene: Haitian-Canadian producer Kaytranada has been consistently holding it down with a steady melodic yield, his craftsmanship clear with each new delivery. Today, he gives the spine to a spic and span single from Maeta, a rising youthful vocalist out of Indianapolis. On “Teen Scene,” Kaytra’s establishment is a moderate one to begin, a mix of swoon vocals and a non-obtrusive furrow. Maeta’s smooth vocals sparkle as she slides easily into falsetto, pondering her days transitioning with a freshly discovered point of view.
“I grew up in housing trucks, felt like Summer when all the kids were out,” she sings. “Not old enough to light up yet, still did behind the house.”
There is a sudden change in temperature, once Buddy enters the fold, his mind entirely set on the present.
“Baby on my mind but I’m always on a mission,” he raps, steady on Kaytra’s groove. “Tryna get another six figures, girl you know you love me, just admit it.”
If you appreciate a little out-of-the-box music, then the low-key yet upbeat new single from Maeta, Buddy, and Kaytranada should be a welcome surprise.
