Boldy James Taps Westside Gunn, Keisha Plum & Others For ‘Roxycontin’
Today, Boldy James came through to shoot his Griselda debut The Versace Tape, a joint exertion among himself and producer Jay Versace. Considering the whole drop clocks in at twenty-minutes, lovers of the man’s craft have no reason not to peep this one on the double.
Furthermore, for those only currently showing up because of the Westside Gunn co-sign, maybe the end track “Roxycontin” may be the best to start with.
Versace favors Boldy, Westside Gunn, Keisha Plum, and Tiona D with a stripped-down sample loop, triumphant, and suggestive of a cinematic crime adventure. Setting things off is Boldy himself, never exuding urgency.
“Speeding in and let the car cruise, put me 50 Cent on them Ja Rules,” he spits. “Prices going up in the city, twenty-six fifty for a jar of blues.” Gunn contributes by way of a makeshift hook, amassing the mix with ad-libs as he thinks about how he and the squad changed destiny with style.
Toss in a spoken word outro from Keisha Plum, and you have your perfect ending of The Versace Tape all ready.
