Chance The Rapper Set To Join Cast Of Sesame Street
The musical will be spearheaded by Jonathan Krisel, the director and co-creator of ‘Portlandia’. He is to be supported and co-financed by Warner Bros. and MGM. Bo Burnham, the ‘Eight Grade’ director will also be contributing songs to the film.
Sesame Street will hit the theaters from Jan 15, 2021.
Drafts of the script have already been written by Mike Rosolio and Chris Galletta. Shawn Levy and Michael Aguilar will produce the pic, while Jesse Ehrman will oversee the production for Warner Bros.
The rights to the movie are held by Sesame Workshop and they will also be involved in the development of the movie.
The plot of the story follows some Sesame Street characters who are mysteriously expelled from their neighbourhood. This forces them to collaborate with history show host Sally Hawthorne to prove that sesame street exists.
This series premiered first in 1969 and was known for its unique blend of live-action puppetry and animation. It is known for also making the following creations popular, Big Bird, Bert, Ernie, Grover, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster and Elmo.
Sesame Workshop is the producer of the Tv Series and prior to 2000, was known as the Children’s Television Network. It was created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett.
This would make Chance The Rapper’s second major acting job after appearing in ‘Slice’, an A24 Horror-comedy. The rapper also recently featured in a netflix film, ‘Between Two Ferns’. He is also billed to host a revival of Punk’d, for Quibi.
